DAILY CHECKS
- TYRES - Look at the tyres to make sure
that
they are not flat
- LEAKS - Quickly check the garage floor under
the care for telltale leaks of oil or coolant.
- WARNING LIGHTS - Make sure that the warning
light show when the ignition is switched on and the light that
should go off when the engine starts.
- GAUGES - Check the fuel gauge to make sure
that there is no shortage of fuel
- BRAKES - Apply pressure onto the footbrake to
make sure that if feels normal and has resistance

PRE TRIP CHECKS
- HEAD AND TAIL LAMPS
- TURN SIGNALS INDICATOR
- FAN AND OTHER DRIVE BELT
- COOLANT HOSES.
- WINDSCREEN WASHER RESERVOIR
- WHEN OIL AND FILTER CHANGE DUE
- GENERAL VISUAL CHECK

The following should
be check regularly to avoid problem.
- ENGINE OIL
- COOLANT
- BATTERY.
- BRAKE FLUID
- TYRES
- FUEL

VEHICLE
SECURITY
- The vehicle should always be
locked, even when leaving it unattended for only a short time.
- Additional security devices such
as alarm, steering wheel locks and gearshift lever locks are
deterrent to a car thief
- Do not leave valuable of any kind
where they can be seen; lock them in the boot.

FIRE
PREVENTION

The most likely
causes of fire are petrol leaks and electical faults

Investigate any
petrol odour that might be the result of a leak.Petrol leaking
onto the exhaust manifold or exhaust system can start a fire
-
A short circuit in
the electrical system will cause overheating; this will normally
blow a fuse and prevent a fire.Only fuses of the correct rating
should be used.

A small fire
extinguisher can be carried in the vehicle

TOOLS AND
SPARES
Sufficient tools and spares should be
carried in the vehicle to get out of trouble such as;

Spanners,
screwdrivers and pliers

Spark plug spanner

Oil, water, brake
fluid

Fan belt, spark
plugs and fuses

Radiator hoses
-
Spare tyre (make
sure it is suitable to use and inflated)
